I’m old and not in good health. Can I take out a funeral plan?
There are no age or health restrictions on taking out a funeral plan.
How can I pay?
Many people make one single payment for their chosen plan. You can choose to pay in instalments, or over periods up to ten years, depending on the provider. There are interest-free options of up to two years. Our consultants can talk you through the best options for you.
What happens if I die before I’ve paid in full for my funeral?
If you pay by instalments and die before payment is complete, all the money you’ve paid into the plan is made available to cover the pro-rata percentage of the funeral director’s costs at the original pre-agreed price. Your family or executors will be asked at the time to make up any outstanding difference.
When does the funeral plan expire?
It doesn’t! Just Wills & Legal Services approved funeral plans never expire and always pay out.
Will I have to pay more when prices go up?
No. The funeral director’s costs are guaranteed. Any increases in the cost of disbursements (doctor’s and minister’s fees; crematorium charges etc.) beyond the control of the funeral director are also guaranteed up to the Retail Price Index.
Is the money I’ve paid secure?
All monies paid into Just Wills & Legal Services approved provider funeral plans are held in Trusts and managed by professional and audited companies who are responsible for legally holding the assets of the Trust separate to the supplier company.
Our approved pre-paid funeral planning companies are regulated by The Funeral Planning Authority Ltd. (FPA) and/or the National Federation of Funeral Directors. They all conform to the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Regulated Activities) Order 2001
