As of January 2017, the top 9 UK funeral plan providers book prices for a basic funeral (local funeral home, private viewing, hearse, no limousine, service, cremation) range from £3,155 to £3,625 for what is, essentially, the same product. We compare the offers every month and help you select the best.
Overall, the cost of living is rising. Unfortunately, the cost of dying is rising even faster. Funeral costs rose by roughly 100% in the 12 years since 2004. Prices for a basic funeral and cremation from your local funeral director can now start from around £4,000. (Average cost in East Anglia £4,090 according to Sun Life 2016 research). Will a basic funeral cost £8,000 in another 12 years?
We offer clients the same basic funeral package at £3,155 fixed price whether you need to arrange a funeral this week or for 40 years into the future. It makes sense to fix the costs as soon as possible.

Throughout the UK, our consultants talk to hundreds of people every day about their wishes for their funeral. These are some of the questions people ask most often:
I’m old and not in good health. Can I take out a funeral plan?
There are no age or health restrictions on taking out a funeral plan.
How can I pay?
Many people make one single payment for their chosen plan. You can choose to pay in installments, or over periods up to ten years, depending on the provider. There are interest-free options of up to two years. Our consultants can talk you through the best options for you.
What happens if I die before I’ve paid in full for my funeral?
If you pay by installments and die before payment is complete, all the money you’ve paid into the plan is made available to cover the pro-rata percentage of the funeral director’s costs at the original pre-agreed price. Your family or executors will be asked at the time to make up any outstanding difference.
When does the funeral plan expire?
It doesn’t! Just Wills & Legal Services approved funeral plans never expire and always pays out.
Will I have to pay more when prices go up?
No. The funeral director’s costs are guaranteed. Any increases in the cost of disbursements (doctor’s and minister’s fees; crematorium charges etc.) beyond the control of the funeral director are also guaranteed up to the Retail Price Index.
Is the money I’ve paid secure?
All monies paid into Just Wills & Legal Services approved provider funeral plans are held in Trusts and managed by professional and audited companies who are responsible for legally holding the assets of the Trust separate to the supplier company.
